Ladon the Timeless (1902 - Friese)
6 foot x 4 foot - oil on canvas
In the typical Friese style, the body of a serpent-dragon is shown coiling around itself in hyperrealistic fashion. White pillars and hanging vines encircle Ladon as he bears his shimmering teeth.
A curious gold frame houses the dramatic scene. Visible through a series of holes, hundreds of interlocking gears turn dozens clock hands on the frames surface. The times displayed were varied and seemingly unrelated. In my investigations, I was unable to find anything of further significance.
